High tides and fishing<\/strong> in Morbihan<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The high tides <\/strong>are a great opportunity to watch an impressive spectacle <\/strong>while oxygenating on the beaches of the Golfe du Morbihan between Pointe de Kerpenhir<\/strong> in Locmariaquer and Port-Navalo<\/strong>. On the Locmariaquer peninsula, you can fish on foot and enjoy your own catch<\/strong>. Near the Lann Brick campsite in Locmariaquer<\/a>, you can easily pick up cockles<\/strong>, clams<\/strong>, periwinkles<\/strong> and oysters<\/strong>. Water quality on K\u00e9rinis beach: very good. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\r\n <\/div>\r\n<\/section>

Discover the joys of shellfishing, while respecting the authorized fishing zones<\/strong> (the P\u00eache \u00e0 pied responsable website lists the areas of the Breton coastline affected by bans or restrictions<\/a>), and the size <\/strong>and quantity of shellfish<\/strong> collected, limited to 3 kg per person<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You’ll be able to pick up clams, cockles, clams, limpets, periwinkles, razor clams, oysters, mussels, sea urchins or curlers<\/strong> (small crabs under rocks)… (Be sure to stay at least 15 m away from the oyster beds<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keep an eye on the water<\/strong> andweather conditions <\/strong>, and bear in mind that the time it takes to return to land is longer than the outward journey<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Practical tips<\/strong> for successful fishing in Morbihan<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At low tide, theforeshore<\/strong> is revealed, and with it a whole host of more or less visible marine flora<\/strong> and fauna<\/strong>. Between the rocks or in the sand, it’s time to find shellfish and crustaceans<\/strong>. Fun and relaxing, shore fishing is accessible to all<\/strong>. But it does require vigilance<\/strong>! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first rule of safety<\/strong> is to be aware of tide times<\/a>. The sea can rise very quickly and take you by surprise. The risk is to find yourself surrounded, on a rocky islet or a raised strip of sand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second rule concerns the size <\/strong>and quantity of<\/strong> fish you are allowed to catch. It’s essential to ask at thetourist office<\/strong> or town hall <\/strong>about any temporary restrictions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to a claw<\/strong>, bucket<\/strong>, boots<\/strong> andlanding net<\/strong>, you’ll need a small measuring device<\/strong> to attach to your basket, so you can measure the size of the shellfish<\/strong> in the numbers or kilos allowed<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For successful shellfishing, choose the days with the highest tidal coefficients<\/strong>. Then look out for the little holes <\/strong>left in the sand by the shell, and dig carefully to extract it! You just might see your first clam appear… <\/p>\n\n
